Pittsburgh City Council
Ashleigh Deemer is thoroughly prepared to serve on Pittsburgh’s City Council from day one. As the Chief of Staff for current City Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak, Deemer has played a pivotal role in passing Paid Family Leave for all city employees and paid sick day legislation for all workers in Pittsburgh. Deemer’s achievements as Chief of Staff also include the passing of the Convention on the Elimination of all Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). Deemer has also focused on protecting Pittsburgh’s natural resources, particularly when she worked for Clean Water Action.
Deemer’s commitment to the progressive movement in Pittsburgh will shape her policies as a City Council member. She will fight for universal pre-K for all Pittsburgh 3 and 4 year-olds, a $15 minimum wage, and an equitable distribution of tax dollars to all Pittsburgh neighborhoods. Deemer will frequently communicate directly and openly with her constituents, something she has already consistently done as Rudiak’s Chief of Staff.
The daughter of a teamster and a product of public schools and Pittsburgh’s Chatham University, Deemer currently lives in southwest Pittsburgh with her husband and her son.
