Noah Phillips is running for District Attorney in Sacramento County, CA. With over 20 years of experience as a prosecutor, Noah has spent a career fighting to protect those who can’t protect themselves. He currently serves as a Principal Criminal Attorney in the Major Crimes Division in the Sacramento County Office of the District Attorney.

Noah is taking on the Republican incumbent, Anne Marie Schubert, who is one of the worst prosecutors in the country. Schubert has repeatedly refused to hold police accountable for violence against people of color. Schubert has recently refused to charge officers who tried to run over an unarmed mentally ill, black man with their patrol car before shooting him to death in 2017, and protected the officers who murdered another unarmed black man, Stephon Clark, in his own backyard after mistaking his cellphone for a gun. Schubert is also an advocate of the death penalty, and has pushed for statewide capital punishment laws that have been proven to be racially biased and harmful.

Noah understands it’s time Sacramento County had a DA who is committed to fairness and justice for all of Sacramento’s residents. He has earned a reputation as a skilled litigator with experience prosecuting gang violence and family abuse. He has managed over 100 trials and is a fierce advocate for victims of crime.

Noah is dedicated to building a united front to combat the hateful rhetoric and destructive policies of the current presidential administration.

Developing the trust in the community-police relationship encourages witnesses and victims of crime to come out of the shadows to access services, report crime, and participate in crime reduction efforts. Noah will assure equal protection of the law and stop biased prosecutions that target African-Americans, Latinos, and low-income communities.

Thanks to his efforts on behalf of crime victims, Noah has received the Outstanding Victim Service Award by his peers within the DA’s Office. Noah has also served as Supervising Attorney of the District Attorney’s Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking, Elder Abuse units and Consolidated Intake Division. Phillips serves as an Advanced POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) law enforcement instructor. He is a 10-year volunteer Faculty Member at the UC Davis Medical School, where he has trained doctors in the field of forensic psychiatry and mental health for courtroom testimony. Phillips earned his Juris Doctorate from McGeorge School of Law, where he was commencement speaker in 1997.
