Georgia State Senate, District 01
Sandra is a parent and a grandparent who has lived in Georgia for most of her adult life, working hard at her job and raising a family She attended Florida Atlantic University, earning a B.A. in psychology and a M.S. in mathematics, as well as a Masters Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University’s School of Business and Public Administration. As a first-time mother at age 18, she both pursued her education and raised two children, most of the time as a single mother.
She has extensive management experience; a significant part of her qualifications for public office. She has managed communications network projects in the U.S. and internationally before being recruited by Deloitte to implement a project management infrastructure. Later, Sandra transitioned to Information Technology, managing multi-million dollar projects to ensure strategic alignment for multiple business units. After a stint in Charlotte, NC as a director for Time Warner Cable, Sandra, and her husband returned to Georgia, settling in Richmond Hill, where she retired in 2015. She is an avid environmentalist, became involved in The Dolphin Project, a volunteer group in Savannah focused on environmental issues, becoming a member of the Board of Directors and its Vice President.
Sandra is running for Georgia State House, District 1; she will work tirelessly for the people of Georgia to expand health care for the district’s lower and middle-income citizens, protect the environment, create clean jobs in the renewable energy industry, protect the rights of women and minorities, and pass legislation for children safety. She will fight for 500,000 additional Georgians to have affordable health care and stabilizing rural hospitals; fighting income inequality by raising the minimum wage so that people working full time have a livable income; strengthening gun safety laws to keep guns out of the wrong hands to stop violence and protect our children; and bringing good paying jobs in renewable energy to protect the environment. Sandra will be a voice for everyone in the district, including people of color, low-income residents, and women rather than pandering to the interests of the wealthiest few.
