DFA responds to Trump’s Inauguration
A statement from Democracy for America's Charles Chamberlain regarding Donald Trump's inauguration as the 45th President of the United States:
"Today's inauguration is an incredibly dark day for our country.
"The only thing more empty than the National Mall today during his poorly attended inaugural address were the platitudes Donald Trump made about bringing the country together.
"Donald Trump won his narrow, electoral college victory by running the most bigoted, divisive, hate-fueled campaign in modern history and we fully expect him to continue trying to divide us in precisely the same way now that he's in office.
"In fact, after putting forward a cabinet filled to the brim with self-dealing billionaires, bigots, and bullies, it's clear that Donald Trump is establishing the most corrupt, corporate, and bigoted administration in generations.
"The only source of light on this miserable day is the massive, multi-racial, multi-generational progressive resistance movement led by women and people of color that is already emerging to confront Donald Trump's agenda of hate and growing stronger every single day.
"Democracy for America's members are proud to be a part of that fight and more aware, awake, and united than ever before in our commitment to defeating every assault Donald Trump will make on people of color, women, and working families in the weeks, months, and years ahead." -- Charles Chamberlain, Executive Director, Democracy for America
